Leon Łunkiewicz
Leon Łunkiewicz is one of the most promising clarinetists of the younger generation in Poland. Born on April 20, 2007, in Warsaw, he has been studying with Dorota Żołnacz at the Karol Szymanowski State Music School Complex No. 4 in Warsaw for over a decade. His playing is characterized by virtuoso technique, an exceptional understanding of form, and a flair for artistic imagination—qualities rare in musicians his age.
He has won over fifty awards in national and international competitions. In recent seasons, he won second prize in the senior category (under 33) at the International Flemish Clarinet Competition in Ghent (2026), the Grand Prix at the 12th West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival in Szczecin (2026), along with a special prize funded by Henri Selmer Paris, and a concert from the Sinfonia Varsovia Prize. He was also a laureate of the Grand Prix at the National Music Competition of the Center for Artistic Education "Musical Spring" in Katowice (2025).
As a soloist, he has performed with the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra under Agata Zając and with Capella Bydgostiensis under Marta Szymańska at the Pomeranian Philharmonic. He has also performed with the Silesian Quartet. He is a three-time recipient of scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and a scholarship from the National Children's Fund.
